Step into a career-defining role where your engineering expertise contributes directly to pioneering projects within the defence sector. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll be part of a global organisation that champions analytical thinking, innovation, and technical excellence. You’ll work on advanced structural engineering solutions that shape the future of bridging systems—making a meaningful, long-term impact while continuing to grow within a forward‑thinking design team.

What You Will Do

  • Deliver stress analysis, fatigue assessments, and structural design calculations—including non‑linear FEA—to guarantee the integrity and performance of bridging products.
  • Develop comprehensive test specifications, acceptance criteria, and technical reports that satisfy customer, industry, and legislative requirements.
  • Manage both internal and external engineering activities, carrying out detailed design reviews and ensuring full compliance with manufacturing and quality standards.
  • Work directly with customers to clarify scope, confirm deliverables, and manage project plans, workload distribution, and resource requirements.
  • Investigate and resolve issues relating to non‑conforming components, leading root-cause analysis initiatives and driving continuous improvement across processes and products.
  • Interpret design criteria and ensure all engineering outputs align with relevant standards, codes, and technical specifications.

What You Will Bring

  • A degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, accompanied by Chartered status with a recognised engineering institution.
  • Deep understanding of structural behaviour, material science, and proficiency in FEA tools such as ANSYS.
  • Strong working knowledge of Eurocodes, fatigue evaluation methodologies, and structural integrity assessments.
  • Experience with aluminium and steel fabrication processes, as well as interpreting and creating detailed technical documentation.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modelling, simulation-led design validation, and hands‑on familiarity with strain gauging techniques.

Why This Role Matters

In this role, you will help deliver robust, high‑performance bridging solutions that meet demanding operational and environmental requirements. You’ll join a team committed to engineering excellence, contributing directly to ongoing product evolution, improved processes, and the advancement of cutting‑edge structural technologies. Your technical insight will play a crucial part in maintaining the company’s position as a leader in the defence engineering sector.
