Intermediate Electrical Engineer Location: Southampton (Hybrid) Employment Type: Full-Time Overview We are seeking an Intermediate Electrical Engineer to join a forward-thinking building services consultancy known for delivering innovative and sustainable electrical design solutions. This role offers exposure to a wide range of projects across commercial, residential, education, and healthcare sectors, with strong support for professional development and progression toward chartership.
The Intermediate Electrical Engineer will work within a collaborative team environment, contributing to technically challenging projects while building expertise under the guidance of senior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electrical systems, including power, lighting, fire alarms, data/communications, and security
  • Produce accurate design calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, and tender documentation in line with UK standards
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver fully integrated MEP solutions
  • Participate in site surveys, liaising with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with building regulations, BS 7671, and CIBSE guidance
  • Contribute to technical documentation and project submissions
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies, sustainable design practices, and industry regulations
Candidate Profile
  • Degree or HNC/HND in Electrical or Building Services Engineering
  • 2–5 years’ experience in building services design, either in consultancy or contracting
  • Proficient in AutoCAD; experience with Revit is desirable
  • Solid understanding of UK wiring regulations, sustainability principles, and best practice
  • Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Ambitious, motivated, and committed to professional development toward chartership
