🔍 About the Role
Following major AMP8 framework wins, Binnies (part of the RSK Group) is expanding its UK Water Services capability. We are seeking a Chartered Civil Engineer who is passionate about technical excellence, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.
This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys being the go-to technical authority, acting as a subject matter expert (SME) across civil engineering disciplines while supporting and developing our in-house talent within a collaborative design environment.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping high-quality, sustainable water and wastewater solutions while strengthening technical capability across our business.

🛠️ What You’ll Be Doing
As a Senior Civil Design Engineer / Technical Specialist, you will:
• Act as the civil engineering subject matter expert across multiple projects
• Lead and review complex civil engineering designs, calculations, reports, and specifications
• Provide technical assurance, guidance, and problem-solving support to project teams
• Be the first point of contact for civil engineering technical queries
• Support the development and application of standards, tools, and best practice
• Mentor, coach, and train graduate and junior engineers
• Contribute to design reviews, risk management, and value engineering
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and clients
• Support cost, programme, and quality objectives through sound technical decision-making
✅ What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a technically strong, people-focused engineer who enjoys sharing knowledge and raising standards.
Essential:
• Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng) status
• Proven experience delivering detailed design within the water or wastewater sector
• Strong technical judgement and ability to provide clear, pragmatic guidance
• Passion for mentoring, training, and developing in-house talent
• Excellent communication skills with the confidence to engage clients and stakeholders
Desirable:
• Experience with UK water industry clients
• Familiarity with industry design standards and assurance processes
• Coordination of overseas resources
• Experience contributing to technical communities, guidance, or innovation initiatives
